Dinner!

One of my customers gave me a gift certificate to J Alexander's last week so Ian and I went there when he got back from Arkansas today. It was really good!! I had this delicious steak that was marinated in tropical teriyaki tasting stuff. I ordered it medium rare and it came out... medium rare! It's ALWAYS overcooked. Nope! If anything, it might've been slightly undercooked, which was fine by me. I like 'em bloody :) And the mac n cheese..... delicious.

The dogs completely shredded a newspaper while we were gone. From the looks of it, they had a GREAT time while we were away.

Superbowl party at our house on Sunday! All are welcome :)

Time to watch Grey's!

25 Things...

Note: I know everyone says they never do these, but I really don't. In fact, I've never done one. Jessie and Megan: feel special.

Once you've been tagged, you are supposed to write a note with 25 random things, facts, habits, or goals about you. At the end, choose 25 people to be tagged. You have to tag the person who tagged you. If I tagged you, it's because I want to know more about you.

1. I love my dogs. Even though they can be obnoxious sometimes, I still love them a lot (but not as much as Ian!)

2. I love surgery shows. This includes medical dramas (House, Nip/Tuck/Grey's, etc) but also includes Plastic Surgery: Before and After, Trauma: Life in the ER and other sorts of graphic bloody shows. I can't help it.

3. While I love the surgeries (especially plastic surgery) I absolutely cannot watch anything having to do with the nose. Nope, no way. My septum is crooked, and the idea of them using a hammer and chisel to fix it is just gross.

4. I hate showering. I do it anyway, of course, but I really don't like it at all.

5. When I carry a purse, I'll usually carry it for months at a time without switching. It's just too annoying to have to move everything from one to another.

6. My brother is a chef and makes the absolute best food ever. My mom and grandmother are right up there with him.

7. I love red wine. My wine tastes have changed drastically in the last year or so. I started out with just sweet whites, then migrated to dry whites, then pinot noir only, now I'll drink anything red and only really good whites.

8. I like Miller Lite WAY better than Bud Lite, but I'm not totally sure I can tell the difference in taste.

9. I don't have a favorite color.

10. TiVo has completely changed my life. I don't know what I used to do when I had to watch a show the moment it was on. What did I do when I was busy??

11. I love Tiffany. I have more jewelry from there than I deserve, but I love every piece of it :)

12. My feet are very temperature sensitive. If they're cold, they're FREEZING. If they're hot, they're boiling.

13. Speaking of temperatures, I don't care if my food is hot. I don't mind it being lukewarm... I just really hate microwaving it because it makes everything soggy.

14. I love cheese. All cheese.

15. To accommodate the cheese, I love going to abs class at the gym. There's something really satisfying to me about abs that are so sore that I am pretty much immobilized.

16. I have the best friends ever! I'm sad that so many of them don't live near me anymore, but I've made some new ones that are awesome too!

17. I can't wait to get married.

18. I get annoyed really easily.

19. I like the water in the shower to be VERY hot. Except when I'm washing my face. My face cannot handle high temperatures. The problem is, when it's cool enough for my face, my body is freezing!

20. When I was in college, I used to make fun of the people who wore Mississippi State gear all over the place. I only owned 1 MSU tshirt! Now I have like 10. My pride and love for the school jumped dramatically after I graduated! Especially now that I live in Bama country!

21. I like to snuggle. A lot.

22. I worked in coffeeshops for a long time. Because of this, I don't drink coffee hardly at all! And it's not because I got tired of it... it's that nobody working behind a counter can make it as well as me :)

23. I can't run on a treadmill. I can run all day long on an elliptical, but keep me away from treadmills.

24. I'm very organized... when I want to be.

25. I love to cook! And I hate measuring the ingredients. A dash of this and a splash of that is the way to go!

There ya go! I'm pretty impressed with myself for actually doing this. So somebody else better do it to!

I tag Kacie, Robin, and Rebecca! Sorry, 25 people isn't going to happen :)

It's about time.

I HAVE to take down the Christmas tree today. It's waaaaay overdue, but I just haven't been able to get up the energy to do it. Also, it's serving as storage at the moment. We got a TON of presents for our engagement party in New York, and they're all sitting under the tree. Once the tree is gone, it's no longer appropriate to have everything sitting on the floor. So taking down the tree means also finding somewhere to put all the amazing presents we got. The big problem is that most of them are kitchen electric stuff - rice cooker, crock pot, waffle iron, blender, food processor, etc... and there's simply not enough cabinet space to put all of the stuff away right now. So it's going to take some major rearranging which is just annoying. But the presents are excellent!

Yesterday was Ian's birthday, and I got him these awesome shoes. They're North Face, and they're amphibious. When we go on our honeymoon, we'll be doing lots of outdoorsy stuff like waterfall rappelling and such, so we'll need some shoes made for that sort of thing. I want some too!

We also went out to dinner at Kobe in Midtown... it was pretty good! Definitely nice and new and shiny and all that, but I think I still prefer Hokkaido. The grill next to us was a group of 20-something girls all in ridiculous outfits and out for one of their birthdays. They had lots of saki shots and were definitely amusing.

We're headed to Birmingham today to look at Nissans... Ian wants to drive an Xterra and I'd like to look at the Altima Coupes. Hopefully we'll have some luck!

Yesterday, Ian noticed that our stupid neighbors' pit bull was starting to break through the fence. If you don't remember the story, click here. If that dog was able to knock out one of the slats in the fence, she would come through and kill our dogs. We nailed plywood to our side of the fence months ago, but she's breaking through that part too. So Ian called Animal Control yesterday and they came out and talked to Ian and the stupid neighbor to see what was going on. And now they have an extra layer of fence on their side! It's about damn time they did something to help with the situation. Up to this, we had tried several things to keep HER stupid dog on their side of the fence, and all they do is beat the crap out of the dog. So hopefully the new fence looks really awful on their side and they have to look at it, just as we've had to deal with the plywood. On that note, since they have extra fence now, maybe we'll take down the plywood so ours will look nice again. We win!

Alright, I'm going to finish watching the new episode of Grey's then take down the tree. Wish me luck!

Long time no post!

Saying "no post" makes me nervous. It's a bank thing...

Anyway.... New Years was awesome. Ian was gone for way too long, so Patrick and I loaded up in my car on NYE when I got off work at 2 and drove down to New Orleans to see him (and Kat... I'm not sure Patrick missed Ian enough to drive 4 hours). Me, Ian, Walsh, Megan, Kat, Patrick, Josh, and one of his friends all went out to a great dinner then headed down to Bourbon street for some New Years craziness. It was sooooo crowded, but we ended up having a pretty good time. Poor Kat had knee surgery a week before so she had on a huge brace and crutches and she was such a trooper fighting through the crowds patiently while people slammed into her. Her poor leg was all swollen after the night but she never complained once. She's a better person than I am! I would have been C-R-A-N-K-Y. We had some delicious hand grenades at Tropical Isle then went over to another little bar closer to our hotel. Then Patrick and I got up early and left at 10am to come back. Entirely too short! I wish we could've stayed longer and gone shopping and whatnot, but maybe next time! We're thinking my bachelorette party will be in N.O. so we'll take care of that then :)

Ian and I went and looked at cars today... but we only had time to go to the Ford place. He test drove an Escape and I actually liked it a lot! We're going to check out XTerras and a couple of others and also some other cars for me, so I'm excited! Any suggestions? I'm thinking a little coupe of some sort, possibly an Altima or Accord. We'll see!

We're meeting with the caterer for the wedding sometime this week... I can't believe how fast time has passed. It seems like we've only been engaged for a month or so and it's been 8 months! The wedding is only 4 months from Friday! Yikes! It's been fun hammering down some of the details though... we still need to order invitations (like, fast!) and find a band. Anybody know a good one that'll come to Birmingham? Mom is working on the favors and we've gotten part of the bridesmaids' gifts made (sooo cute). I can't wait for my dress to come in... we ordered it in October and it's still not scheduled to be here till mid February. I hope it fits!!! I'll just feel better once it's here so I'll know what I need to do to make it fit :) We've got the honeymoon all booked also, but we still need to book the flights. We're going to Costa Rica! I absolutely cannot wait. We considered lots of places, but in the end we figured we could lie on a beach all day in Alabama, so why go away somewhere to do that? We wanted to have fun! So we're going to ride a zipline through the jungle, dive into canyons, and rappell down waterfalls! So much fun :) Speaking of the honeymoon, Ian just walked in here so we're going to look for flights. Wish me luck! I'll check back later...
